Worked on the admin interface for a while, but then i continued with the images and screenshots.
Now the images are shown by a script. This way i can manipulate images if wanted. And of course no-one needs to know where i hide my images. | | Added : Thursday 21 September 2006 by wendy | |
| Sessions and cookies |
|---|

Oh dear, another problem.
I assumed everyone to have cookies enabled. Without cookies the sessions don't work anymore. Without sessions there's no way of logging in or temporarely store some settings like the language you chose.
The message above will show up only once at each new visit, because it's too late now (23:45) to figure out how to disable it at the first site hit.
Believe it or not; Using cookies for sessions is much saver then blocking them all the way. When there are sessions on a site and you have cookies blocked yu will often see a very complicated number like PHPSESSION=12352377344732 .
Someone can copy this link and paste it into their own browser. If he is doing that while you are logged in, he is logged in as well on your account.
So that's why i don't like using sessions if people have blocked all their cookies.
Firefox gives an option of 'allow for sessions only' wich is exactly what you probably want (this kind of cookie will not store passwords and the like).
I also noticed a lot of 'visitors' lately. When i logged the IP of the visitors, it turned out that Google was scanning my pages already, about three times 5 hits a day.
I tried to block it wth robots.txt and headers, but the bot doesn't seem to listen to it.
But best and for all :
You can now register as a member and see something more
Don't mention the messages about mail being sent, you won't need it.

Oh yes, finally the translations are put into the database. Took me a lot of headache to make it work, to find an easy way to put 900 definitions into the table and to make it editable. Now it works more or less flawless.
Easy enough to do the same with the settings and the permissions.
More news is the useful or not toolbar wich is intended to have some handy settings easily available like language, navigation and some settings.
Last but not least, some pictures added to the screenshots section of the leakage in my house, put there only as an easy means to show it to some people. | | Added : Thursday 17 August 2006 by wendy | |
| Juggling with XML ! |
|---|

Another great feature to the news-section: Now you (i ) can add translations to all the posts, so depending on the language you have chosen you will see the version in your language if there's one.
Tried it with XML functions, but ended up with string functions to read the XML data.
Three letter languagecodes won't work yet, but that will com later.
Oh, and my house is leaking, so in the worst case the server have to be shut down for security

| Some news again |
|---|

Well, the first new thing is visible on the left; a function to add a formatted picture to a newsitem. Only for admins, though.
I worked on the editing form, included a smilie insert function etc.
For visitors, there's not much news for today. | | Added : Sunday 06 August 2006 by wendy | |
| Oh dear ! |

Long time ago i heard something about the risks of register_globals=on .
So i turned it off and could then fix a lot of errors
I also rearranged the files for the user system, so another reason for a great mess.
When you start programming with bad habits, then you have much work later on correcting it.
I added some screenshots to make you have a view when logged in as admin. They are a bit vague, though.
Anyways, i also added a User list so you can now view all my (virtual) visitors.
And i figured out to walk through an array backwards (to make the newest news-item appear on top).
However, enough for today | | Added : Thursday 27 July 2006 by wendy | |
| News for today |
|---|

Today (yesterday) i added some nice new stuff.
Some of them invisible behind a admin-login , others more visible like the new smilies function , a user profile section and i played a little bit with sysinfo utilities to get you an idea about the computer this site is running from (i cheated i little bit because this one is a generated, then included html file).
And fixed some minor bugs and missing translations wich are showing up all the time. If you see something like _HERESHOULDBESOMETHING then a translation is still missing | | Added : Thursday 27 July 2006 by wendy | |
